The Scout Creative Challenge Award Badge celebrates Scouts who demonstrate creativity across a range of activities — from art and performance to digital projects and model making. It encourages young people to explore new creative skills, work safely with tools and technology, and showcase their talents to others.

Whether Scouts are trying their hand at photography, dance, craftwork or website design, this badge rewards progression and originality.

🧠 How to Earn the Creative Challenge Award

To earn the Creative Challenge, Scouts must complete a number of creative activities over time and demonstrate skill development and creative output. Typical requirements include:

🛠️ Core Creative Tasks

• Take part in at least four creative activities, with some new experiences (e.g., music, photography, woodwork, needlework, cooking, website design, dance).

• Show you’ve developed your skills in at least one activity and use any equipment safely.

🎨 Creative Outputs

• Produce something that promotes Scouting, such as a poster, video or performance.

• Construct a model using a kit, recycled materials, or create a useful item from wood, metal or plastic.

• Use social media or the internet creatively and safely, explaining why safe use matters.

• Take part in a performance — examples include magic tricks, dance, plays or concerts.

These requirements help Scouts build confidence in creative problem-solving and expression.

🎖️ Badge Context & Recognition

• This badge is one of the nine Scout Challenge Awards.

• Completing all nine Challenge Awards — including Creative — is part of achieving the Chief Scout’s Gold Award, the highest youth award in Scouts.

• The badge is worn on the front of the Scout uniform alongside other challenge badges.
